I think joweone has a fair hypothesis... the illusion of a good deal when (if) they decide to drop the price back down (though I don't usually see prices come back down in such instances). The increase in price is always too significant to simply be compensating for conversion rates.

It was a nice piece. Loose but complete and good condition. The cheapest I've seen one go for not too long ago was that incomplete one without the chest plate or wings, one antenna was bent, about 1,500 or so.

As my father would say, it is worth what you are ready to pay for it (which is always too much, he would add). The thing is this depends on your circumstances. Nearly 15 years ago, I saw a complete and very good Goldorak in a Parisian shop at about 700FF (short of 100USD give or take). I thought they were taking the mickey and passed. But at the time, I was not set on collecting JMs nor I had that much disposable income. 15 years later, I spent twice as much for one, and I thought I did OK!
