Hmmm...upon closer look on the King J-Der grey prototype. Guys, we might be in for a big surprise. Take a closer look!  I noticed the hole in the chest but didn't notice the other details. They might just be there though since the kibble is still part of King J-Der's design, and the anime didn't hide them. |

Hmmm...upon closer look on the King J-Der grey prototype. Guys, we might be in for a big surprise. Take a closer look! - Hole in center chest (bird beak) - Rotating front shoulder plate (left and right at different angle) - Articulated J-Der feet on the arms. - Mid torso vertical swivel (curves and gaps on both sides) - Tabs on the back side of shoulders. - Male/female tabs on both sides of the under side of lower arm. - Male/female tabs on both sides of the inner lower legs. If you are familiar with the show, especially if you own the Takara transforming toy, you know what all these hint.  This is game changing... <button disabled="" class="c-attachment-insert--linked o-btn--sm">Attachment Deleted</button> That is why this struck me as looking too much like a transformable robot. That would explain the more straightforward design (compared to Genesic). Nice catch, those tabs in particular don’t seem to leave much room for doubt. Also interesting to note that they weren’t there in Amakuni’s promotional sketches (which seemed fairly final in terms of all the detailing). If true, I wonder why they made the change. Could be that the licensing agreement changed; maybe Bandai decided they won’t be tackling him within the next couple of years (although I have no idea how what the terms and conditions are for this type of IP licensing). Maybe Amakuni requested an amandment because realized they couldn’t do enough with a non-transforming King J-Der (that’s my personal take on it). Interesting to see the final announcement for this guy. |

Nah, not those male/female tabs on arms and legs, as they are toy engineering bits, not kibble design. They are not even in their CG model. The exact kind of tabs where the 2 arms and legs snap together like in SOCs, TFs, and older Takara DX Braves. The magazine article did mention there is some secret gimmick hidden within this toy body (the orange ink calligraphy text) waiting to be reveal in a later date. Tons of hints they dropped there really, if we pay closer attention. |

I wasn't considering this before, but now.....I should just start throwing extra money into the King D-Jer pile. I think this is a very smart business move. Rather than releasing a non-combiner like their GGGG, which a bunch of collectors held back from buying due to it being obsolete some years down the road when a combiner version look almost as good will replace it. GGGG was great in a number of ways, but its smaller size and non-combining aspect of it still doesn't live up to the "be-all-end-all" GGGG that collectors would be willing to pay the high price for. But a transforming gokin King J-Der, it has NEVER been done before. Just look at early reactions when this King J-Der first announced, most are like "Doesn't transform, not buying." But if it is transforming, with this sculpt, and this size, it would be the King J-Der everyone interested wants. And I am very glad they went for it. Though now the speculation is, how much does it transform? We know King J-Der to J Ark is a given, from looking at the prototype. But with such a small head, and large arms, J-Der is a no go. Are we going to have a bigger transforming J-Der body? Or are we going to have a pair of tiny arms to form J-Der's legs? Or will they skip the J-Der form altogether? J-Der being a DLC option set like GGGG's effect parts? Looking at King J-Der's chest size, it may not have a very accurate J Ark form. Will there be add-on option parts to make the ship form look better? A lot of questions can be asked. So hyped! |

Looks like mpchi is right, the newest photos shared show too many panels and plugs for this to be a non-transforming King J-Der. The biggest question is how they will handle J-Der, since the head is too small and arms are too large. This was always the flaw with King J-Der, since it used too much anime magic to make it look good in all its forms. www.taghobby.com/archives/472462 |

Last week I (finally) got the option parts set for Genesic GGG. The LED hands look amazing so - in wondering what all they’ve got planned for King J-Der - I can already say that a LED J-Quad would be fire. Or...maybe they’ll up the ante and make some kind of crazy big J-Phoenix part. Its quite possible with the fiery J-Quoth and J-Phoenix effect parts with LED, but probably go the Add-on Set route, partly to make more money, partly because the King J-Der alone will cost a lot. Packing with all those parts can make it a US$700-800 purchase, which will scare away a lot of people. |

But it’s gonna be a rip from the wallet. And the option parts set may even be a seperate J-Der upper body (together with various accesories) to form J-Der and J-Ark... As for scaring people away, maybe that observation comes from the forums here. Because while I am unfamiliar with the Asian market in this regard - the HK price was much lower anyhow by the way - surely the fact that Genesic GGG got a reissue says something about the sales. |
