Guess the chest is also a part swap (probably anime accuracy optional parts)

That midsection part of the J-Ark also seems to be a partsforming piece (doesn’t correspond to any part of his back). Edit: did a quick search and it’s explained here: link
I do find this a bit lame. But eh..I guess I still need to get used to the fact that this is the MO of most of these companies ( can’t help but wonder what magic Takara Tomy could have achieved with him, had they kept the Brave license...).

I am not so confident on TakaraTomy these days, as they turn most of the MP TFs into origami exercises (appeal to me less and less to a point I stopped buying after Prime 3.0). While not ideal, I am okay with add-on parts as long as they are optional, which looks like they are.

While some of the MP’s have certainly had me stuck in frustration on occasion, in general their engineering and balance betwee both modes continue to please me. Plus, I think they are in fact moving away a bit from those overly complex transformations. But yeah, these are all optional parts. And to be fair, J-Ark still looks fine without 2 of the 3 optional parts; only the actual (transforming) head will look a bit silly I think.

Bonus SD mode.

It might be a simple transformation on surface, but all form of King J-Der do a lot of cheating in between modes.

Bonus SD mode. I think you are mistaken, I was referring to J-Ark mode parts only (it’s easy to understimate how small this J-Der is). So it’s the other way around

Honestly, what I would give to give any excuse to have King J-Der renamed and reused as a Transformers character and to be able to design a Titan Class King J-Der to look big and menacing.

Strictly speaking my impressions from these color photos, I will say I am bit underwhelmed. While I had ofcourse considered that this wouldn’t get the same level of paint and finish as Genesic (being transformable and being done by a different team) I was still hoping Amakuni would make the white pop in a way instead of going for this titanium white. It’s really looking a bit plain next to their Gaogaigar.
Oh well, it’s coming out in one and a half year from now. That’s a future time that does not exist for me. Probably just gonna preorder it and then actively forget about it. Will make actual judgements when I have it hand.

While I like this in general, I do agree that it doesn't have that premium look that their Genesic Gaogaigar has, likely because of the pack of paint/finish.

Can't really tell the white is painted or not at this point, but probably a safer bet that it is plastic with polish/surface treatment, just so all the white tabs for transformation won't be flaking off paint. But fully painted would be preferable so that the figure won't yellow some years down the road. And it is still a long time from Jan 2024 release date, hopefully we'll get to see some confirmation on future display samples in toy shows and such. It is interesting to see the different take on King J-Der when compare to the SMP. - Bandai made the transforming J-Der as the big version, while need a tiny swappable head for King J-Der. (Good ship mode, good J-Der, but dorky King J-Der without swapping head) - Sentinel on the other hand reversed it, making the tiny head transformable, but a big static head for the ship. (Good King J-Der, acceptable ship mode without part swap, J-Der need parts swap). Now it start to make sense why Sentinel's J-Der has such tiny fists. SMP King J-Der big head mode.

I am impressed with the articulation! Also, I may have to relax (or atleast pause given that this is still handpainted) my prior reservations about the paint job.
