Looks like those wings and cannon effects are not all of it, with more to reveal later, as the article mentioned these are just part of the set. Cool.

KINGU! JAAAAY---DAAAAA!!!
Looking very good. Pearl white paint all over, and really good articulation too. A bit odd that they chose to make J-Der so small, instead of matching the J-Bird with the size of the King J-Der arms. But overall very impressive. Just hope everything feels good in hand. Mine is shipped from D4Toys today. Wanted this for so many years. Can't wait!

A bit odd that they chose to make J-Der so small, instead of matching the J-Bird with the size of the King J-Der arms. If I had to guess, they wanted him to look more proportionate when standing on top of the J-Arc. I actually think it is more about cutting cost and engineering. They could have turned the King J-Der arms into J-Der's legs (like normally, but require more joints and design), and have the larger size head be the actual transforming J-Der torso, instead of an empty plastic shell they offered. It would make a much larger and more detailed J-Der figure, while they just need a small swappable static head for King J-Der to look good (I think the SMP went this route, if I remember correctly). Instead, they made the small head transformable, now with a really tiny J-Der. J-Der is not small like that in the show when standing or sitting on the ship. But doing the way they did sure cut cost, less engineering on both the arms and a much tiny J-Der that just peg in and peg out on its limbs and chest plate. A small gripe, but beggars can't be chooser. But I do see another advantage of their approach besides saving cost, is a more self contained King J-Der. Even without the swappable aesthetic parts, ship mode still look quite good with the small head and short nose. So you can transform King J-Der back and forth with zero parts swap and still be acceptable, sacrificing J-Der's scale and J-Bird mode in exchange. Most of my big anticipated releases lately turned out not as good as I hoped for (Threezero Ideon, POSE+ Baldios, Blitzway Black Getter...they are good, even very good, but I was expecting them to be homeruns). Hopefully King J-Der won't follow their path, and truly made my years-long anticipation worthwhile. I'll find out in a week or two.

I don't regret getting Ideon or Baldios, but I was hoping they'd be better, especially with how expensive things are now.

I'm half tempted to just wait a bit and see if the price of this pre-owned drops, like with what happened when their Genesic Gaogaigat came out. It's still in stock at Amiami.

Just got this bad boy today and unboxed it a moment ago. Initial impression is glorious! 1.13kg. Joints feel very much like a FlameToys, with that smooth snug feel, but not overly tight like some CCSToys or Metal Build joints. Diecast joints are chunky with huge blocks of metal wrapped by plastic panels. I tend to lift the figure from the bottom of the crotch with my finger (LOL), and you can definitely feel the cold diecast down there . The whole inner hip is diecast. Articulated fingers, turrets all has an extra hinge that let them spread out sideways. Huge feet, very stable in standing pose. Lovely pearl white and light silver. Most of the paint has very fine metallic flakes in them, even the red and the greens. I think the entire figure is painted, without any trace of bare plastic. This is a REALLY GOOD release! Have not transform it yet, so there maybe more awesomeness and flaws to be discovered. Minor issues I can see are the shoulder fins not sure why they wiggle. They almost feel like sitting on a hinge (the old Takara did), but in this case they don't look like they are articulated, just wiggle a good 5-10 degree for no reason. One diecast knee hinge on mine is less tight than the rest, another lucky draw of mine. One thing I do worry about is the head's neck joint ball socket. It is made of pink clear plastic......hope this won't be my CCS Zero cracked neck's sequel in the near future, as clear plastic are much weaker and some of the worse material choice for a socket, especially one where you put on and pull off very often for the J-Der transformation. Fingers crossed....big time. Didn't expect King J-Der can bust a move like this...

Didn't expect King J-Der can bust a move like this... Haha, that's a very impressive pose. I'm taking my chances on this dropping in price pre-owned, like the Genesic did at first. What happened with Fire Dagwon makes me worried a bit, but so far it's still in stock everywhere, which Fire Dagwon sold out even before release.

I knew about a short side story manga of King J-Der as part of the promo for this release for a while (usually mentioned in toy shows when the figure was showcased multiple times), roughly translated as "King J-Der the Burning Phoenix". But little did I know that HobbyJapan actually released a video manga of it and got J to voice it too! Looks like not many even knew about the video, with pretty low views. Its pretty cool showing 2 King J-Ders duke it out, filling in the gap between GGG TV series and GGG Final on what happened to J and King J-Der. The art is really good, just like how things looked in the show.
The video doesn't cover the conclusion of the side story. If you want to read through the manga pages, they are posted here on X (Twitter) as 2 parts:
(Part 1)
(Part 2)
You can even save all the JPGs if you like to keep a digital copy. Would love to see this come out in a printed Dankoban volume. But there may not be enough pages to justify a release, stayed as a web comic.

This sh*t is always the problem that I had in designing a modern toy for King J-Der. It always comes down to Parts-Forming due to proportions.

One thing I noticed that works really well on King J-Der is the design on the torso and neck (though Riobot Shin Getter Dragon still get the best neck articulation award). Sentinel smartly combined the transformation and articulation joints in one, giving exceptional articulation range on certain joints that you normally don't get (often found in Transformers and random transforming figures). But in here, Sentinel purposely engineered that into the telescoping diecast spine, that linked to the sections on the torso, waist and hip. But not only that (which contributes to the high ab crunch angle, each of those torso segment also has very good range sideway movement. Combined with a good articulated neck base, you can literally draw an "S" with its neck and torso, and can go more extreme just by pulling out and extend the spine even more, making King J-Der one of the most natural looking posing gokin in this size and transforming nature. Not even POSE+ has done something to this extend. Impressive! I have not push the range on said spine design in these 2 photos at all. Can go way more crazier if I want, but just enough to show my point, and get a nice natural pose. Also, about the wobbly shoulder fins I complained before, now I started to understand why they sit the way they are, after posing the arms with the dark blue shoulders hitting those fins a few times. Having them wobbly prevent paint rubbing for those shoulders from the fins with just enough clearance to move around more freely. Guess the wobbly fins were intentional afterall, and not a defect.

That price is ridiculous. Fortunately u like with their Genesic Gaogaigar this really does feel like an optional set, instead of hiding what should have been main accessories behind stuff you don't need.

Mine should be arriving soon. Is there any point other than the shoulder that seems at risk of rub risk to keep an eye out for?
