Also, about the wobbly shoulder fins I complained before, now I started to understand why they sit the way they are, after posing the arms with the dark blue shoulders hitting those fins a few times. Having them wobbly prevent paint rubbing for those shoulders from the fins with just enough clearance to move around more freely. Guess the wobbly fins were intentional afterall, and not a defect. Mine should be arriving soon. Is there any point other than the shoulder that seems at risk of rub risk to keep an eye out for? Hip front skirts, rubbing the center groin with the red piece. The joint holding those 2 front skirt has an unusual pivot. When posing, the skirts tend to touch the center piece after a while, which you may want to pull those front hip skirts out sideways a little every now and then leaving a gap, so they don't rub the center, since all those pieces are painted. Be a bit patient posing the arms, since both the big blue shoulder guard and the turrets on the arms can get in the way. Most of those are easy to spot though when you have the figure in hand and posing a bit. Glad you pulling the trigger. It is an awesome piece. The most satisfying purchase the past few months. Though I am leaning towards skipping the effects parts. In an exchange for another good Riobot release or a Metal Build, for a bunch of missiles and J-Quath effect parts. The math just doesn't add up.

Glad you pulling the trigger. It is an awesome piece. I'm very excited to finally have a good representation of one of my all time favorite super robot designs. After waiting over a month it seems that the pre-owned price is not dropping. Unlike with their Genesic, Sentinel made sure to keep the production run relatively low. The only reason it's still available at Amiami is because the stock they have is meant for customers outside of Japan only, but I didn't want to risk them maybe just offering it later to Japanse buyers, instead of putting it on sale. ...they'll probably put it on sale as soon as mine arrives.

You weren't exaggerating how good the figure was, mpchi. I've been waiting almsot two decades for a good King J Der, and Sentinel delivered. Everything about this is immaculate, from articulation, paint, sculpt, etc. Even S Gokin will be impressed by how much die-cast metal this has, though he'll still call it overpriced. I'm of similar opinion regarding the option set, it's just too expensive, especially since the bulk of the cost is for effect parts that I'll never use. Edit: though if they had included the battle damaged head as part of the package I'd have totally bought the option set.

S_Gokin has been calling me sugar coating all Sentinel releases , so there is no change on that regardless howe well King J-Der performs LOL. But yeah, this King J-Der is very awesome, one of Sentinel's best release, and one of my TOTY candidate for sure. Quality on par, if not excels over some of the best CCSToys, since it transforms and quite a bit more complicated structure wise. But it plays and poses like one, but with even better articulation. I think in regards of wanting a King J-Der for so long, we both are on the same boat. Something about it just appeal to me a lot, and bought the old Takara one during early 2000s even though it was butt ugly (but J-Ark mode is nice and big). One minor gripe I later found is that, the LED light effects on the eyes, instead of glowing through the actual eyes, it glows through the whole eye socket, including the black painted areas outside the eyes, resulting the glowing eyes look super big and more like a Halloween Pumpkin instead of retaining the likeness of King J-Der. But its very minor. Really love this figure! Sadly, mine is likely not going to have the add-on effects. I would pull the trigger if it includes the bigger size J-Der head, but now transformable, instead of just being a placeholder shell/dummy.

I honestly would have preferred if the LED was just for the mouth, and that they'd give the eyes a nice chrome blue. It's strange since even the box shows it with blue eyes, despite that not being how the toy looks like. One minor gripe I forgot to talk about is that the rubber at the base of the head (likely to reduce strain on the clear neck joint) kind of makes moving the head around a bit annoying, at least on my copy. It sometimes adjusts its position on its own.

It sometimes adjusts its position on its own. Same on mine as well, on the neck. But something not hard to adjust tugging in my finger in there when rotating the head to keep it align.

It is a tough watch. Not because its not good, in fact, it is awesome. But the meat of the show is in a few of the key episodes in the TV series, and the Final OVA. So in a sense, you can't really skip the TV series to jump right into the OVA, then you lose all the character building and relationships established in TV, which made the OVA even more impactful. But that also means you need to invest watching 49 episodes of the TV series before the OVA, with a mix of some monster of the week episodes and sometimes a bit of a juvenile plot. But as super robot shows goes, it is one of the best, and one of the most hot-blooded series of all time.
