I was supposed to be getting this figure... but was shocked with the ridiculous big SOC diecast pricing. funny thing was.. i have previous Megahouse figures with more complicated engineering costing less than half this figure's price. I dunno why this figure cost that much... apologies for those who enjoyed having this figure.. im just disappointed ill wait again for another maker to make a more worthy Orguss. yea the price is a bit high but i think mainly because its a rare character and it can transform to 4 modes
well.. that four modes was not even that complicated to begin with. It could be the exclusivity... i dunno.. I could probably just wait for bandai's take on it.. hopefully on the cheaper HMR line.

I have both the regular version and the teal version and love them. Very high quality finish and nice heft too. However, I still have not transformed it to this day. Lol.

An Orguss at HMR line @ 1/100 scale absolutely would not cost like that.. unless they went nuts and make it as big as a destroid monster

I have the transforming Takatoku and the ST versions.. unless they reinvent the transformation... which is not that gonna be major.

Megahouse's Orguss is actually pretty complicated. Unlike the Takatoku, with big simple hinges and ratchets, Megahouse's Orguss actually has a multi-jointed spine of sort, so it let you fold the backpack and do minor gap adjustments to get almost perfect anime accuracy on different forms. Imagine folding out a Yamato/Bandai DX 1/60 valk, but with more multi-jointed hinges and balljoints to form all the neck, back, shoulders, hip wings...etc. It can get pretty fiddly. Once closed up, it tabs together well and secure though. But due to the nature of those balljoints and hinges, I don't suggest to transform it a lot. Pretty sturdy figure right out of the box though.

Nice to hear that they did improve it to make it more updated. But the same time.. made it fragile for transformation.. which is sad. It will be good for display though.

It does make a very handsome display. The sculpt and proportion is very good, and paint finish looks good (minus a couple small flaws or scratches).

I asked Kitz Concept on theyre FB page why they cant make Orguss figure. They said they cant get the proper license Japanese. They said Japanese company are protective and reluctant in giving them license. Then i think about it on what figures they are producing. Then i thought it was ROBOTECH stuff, the Carl Macek rip off of Macross.

I like them both actually. :-) I bought the Megahouse one not too long ago and while the paint is a little rough in spots, the articulation is better than expected and the transformation while a little daunting is also better than expected. I like how they implemented little doors to cover gaps and those doors actually lock into place! The proportions also feel dynamic, like it's an alien sports car made into a robot.

I like how they implemented little doors to cover gaps and those doors actually lock into place! The proportions also feel dynamic, like it's an alien sports car made into a robot. do you have any pictures or video of the transformation? Cant find anything in youtube. Don't have video, but I do have the Megahouse one myself. Transformation is complex, lots of multi-hinged joints to move and shift parts so they can preserve the perfect transformation, so you are dealing with some origami type body structure mid-transformation. But once you get to the end, things tab in place and secure. Has some weight to it (diecast mostly in the thigh, inner half of lower leg, and feet) , sculpt is superb, and paint finish is good with a couple flaws here & there. Its about the size of a taller Metal Build/GFFMC, but with more volume (wider and thicker). - Strong points are the looks, tight joints and stable for posing. - Weakness is that while it is very nice, it is not something you want to transform a lot like a TF. Due to the nature of all those multi hinges, they can wear off with too much play and get looser and not all screws tightening helps tighten the joint. The main robot joints like shoulders, elbows, hips, knees, ankles..etc. don't have this problem. But its the little ones for the wing fins, for the inner spine (transformation) that uses these smaller multi hinges and swivels. You don't want these turn into a floppy mess. So it is meant to pose and look cool, and transform only once in a while. If this fits your needs, this Orguss is very pretty on your shelf. My Takatoku 1/40 looks good for an old school toy, very easy to transform, bigger than Megahouse (but not by a lot, maybe an inch taller), and can transform as much as you want. Don't bother for action poses however, as it has no joints designed for that. It cannot even do a A stance as the hip can only sit straight. Very basic posing articulation is not presented. Diecast distribution is actually less than Megahouse, mostly just the feet and the big armpit hinge (like the 1/55 Valk hip sway bars). And because the toy is so old, its harder to find one without yellowing plastic now (mine has yellowing chest, if u look closely). If you just need one Orguss, Megahouse would definitely be it in the current market, though ideally would be find one brand new if you can, so it doesn't get all loose on the smaller joints transformed by the previous owner. As you can see here in the Megahouse 'under the hood'. Each of those screws you see is a swivel. There are many pin hinges, screws, swivels, that can all be a potential loose joint. But most of them will be locked in place by multiple tabs and hooks once transformation is done. Attachments:
