great...i always wanted to have one of these when i was a kid, but i never did see the anime and never had the chance to own one. The old toys are very fragile. The wings break easily. If you want an ok one to play with to pick up cheap, the original micro size Japanese toy (about 3-4" tall) by takatoku and the Convertors knock off by Select are decent for what they are and durable. It's the large scale originals that have the problem. I figure if the first release sells well that we will see an olson special repaint, etc.

It's the Orguss Orgroid in bue with yellow stripes and black parts (instead of aqua/red/brown). The official toys of it are rare.
Backstory from the web:
The Olson Special is an Orguss built for Olson to pilot after he left the Chiram military. Its capabilities are probably the same as the first Orguss. Olson has his radio tuned to pick up Chiram military frequencies. At one point during the story Kei steals the Olson Special in order to use its radio to contact Athena.

One of my favorite mecha and toy : I have 2 versions of the 1/44 Takatoku toy. Would prefer a Masterpiece version of this (Arcadia or Bandai, please read these lines), but it's nice that collectors can get now this piece of design with an affordable price... (Imo, head is a bit big)

I saw the latest prototype pictures at collectiondx.com. That one in the picture is an older and smaller Orgus also from Megahouse.

That's nice to hear. But the question still is: does anyone know how tall this is going to be? Just to have an idea. Also, Orguss, that name screams "80's robots" like few others do. I've known about the show's existance for a while, maybe it's time to check it out

But I'm guessing it will be around 17 - 19 cm, just like other robots being released under the same line. The biggest question for me is the quality of this line VA Hi Spec. Will it be improved? Rahxephon is so so. Galatt is a ok. While Galvion is a bit problematic if not tricky. We'll see. Orguss will be hard to resist! And the anime is cool.

nope. been seeing this one for almost two years now... this one's different and not the upcoming variable action version. notice the palm action words at the box,, and ull know what that means,,,its 90mm small, absolutely not worth that ridiculous price.

Here might be that prototype pic from CollectionDX. My biggest concern too is the quality. If it turns out really good with raving reviews, then I'll consider buying it. But will definitely not preorder this thing. Have been burnt by the quality of Hi-Spec a couple times, with RahXephon being one of the very few gokin regrets I ever had purchased.

This looks pretty cool and if you are a macross fan, you could modify to look like this...http://www.macross2.net/m3/sdfmacross/vf-orguss-valkyrie/orguss-valkyrie.jpg

Will wait for reviews on this. I preordered Megahouse's RahXephon when pics first came out, but when the early Japanese reviews rolled in I was aghast at how much detail was lost from the prototype, especially on the face. Orguss doesn't have as many fine details, but Megahouse's track record still isn't great as mentioned by others. All the same, I'm a huge fan of Orguss and would love to own a better figure of it than my old Palm Action.

Just saw this update at taghobby: also, toysdaily's linked forum seems surprised by the 37800y pricing: I just wanna say... Good luck with that damn pricing, MegaHouse. Most of us are already groaning at the pricing of the godly 300mm Arcadia VF-0D....
