Im so thinking about getting that scopedog. I already have the Yamato one. anyone want to give me a good reason to pick this 1/18 scopedog up? I owned the Yamato Scopedog for all of a week until I decided to sell it, so I do have a frame of reference. I just got my MicroAction Scopedog earlier this week and let me say that it is truly a wonder! At first glance, it is slightly smaller than I originally imagined but the deco work is very good, having compared it to the Yamato 1/12 version which looks too polished/clean. I think its winning value is in the level of articulation! Fantastic! The packaging is also top-notch! So much so that I didn't have the heart to rip out the packed in Chirico Cuvie (As such, am using the older Chrico Microaction figure for the meantime) and the scopedog weapons as that would necessitate destroying the plastic enclosures that hold the figure and the scopedog weapons in place(these are on trays affixed to the front opening flap of the box). Am still trying to figure out a way to extract the scopedog weapons as neatly as possible! These are my personal inputs. I hope it helps you make a well informed decision. For more references and inputs, try checking out this link. Ironically, much of my views were shared here as well: toyboxst.inwards.com/phorum/read.php?1,144106 Cheers, Garvy

I'm rather tempted by the Scopedog. But he is so large, and I'm running out of space. I understand he has some die cast content, but how much? Would you be prepared to divulge how much you paid?
Is he ultra limited and going to disappear/go up in price?
I always slit plastic bubbles carefully with a scalpel rather than attack the cardboard.

I can't really identify "where" the die-cast content is, but to me, the scopedog was definitely worth acquiring. I paid the equivalent of about $115 for it. Yup, I was thinking of surgically slicing the plastic bubbles. Destroying the cardboard is NOT an option for me! The box is just too nice to destroy.

Yes, that's Malvin's place. Its still in the same area but they moved to an adjacent unit that's much bigger! As for the Scopedog, I've not exactly measured it with a ruler, but I estimate it to be about 9-10 inches in height.

I've been looking at the pics, galleries on the net. I might just pick up up the Takara Scopedog.
Question for you Garvey: What didnt you like about the Yamato scopedog? Besides it being to "clean". Just curious...
Not that I dont like it. Pro's for me would be: its big, hardly any screw holes exposed, amply posable.
Cons would be: a little too loose in some places, I dont like the stickers (I would of prefered water or dry{rub-on} decals) the accessories are waaaay overpriced and my biggest gripe was that you had to buy the cuvie figure separately (which I still dont have >: )

Its not that I didn't like the Yamato Scopedog. I just simply prefer the Takara one over it. As I pointed out, I find the finishing of the Yamato version too "clean". Also, if I remember correctly, its poseability doesn't match that of the Takara version. Thirdly, you're right, I found it a bit too "wobbly", and certain parts came loose a little easily. This is hardly the kind of thing I expected from something as expensive (and it is expensive!). I firmly believe that Takara's design team took these same factors into consideration when they decided to produce their own scopedog, albeit at a smaller scale. If ever, I think the only drawback of the Takara scopedog is that a standard Microman figure is really not built for a lot of wear and tear. I had to be very careful when fitting it into the driver's seat to make sure I didn't break any joints or anything like that. I never did get the Yamato Chirico but I heard it was quite good! That's about it.... I can only hope that Takara continues the Votoms 1:18 line. I honestly wouldn't mind more Votoms mecha or even repaints. As it is, I can already forsee that Takara will most likely issue weapons packs for the scopedog since there look to be concealed ports for such things as early as now! ;D

The Votoms for all that it's worth, is something I believe will never die out. For old folks like me, its nostalgic. And I like what today's technology has done to to "improve" posability in action figures. I dont know the average age groups here on this board, but back in my day, most of our action figures were limited to about 5 points of articulation Thanks for your input... So ok... you sold me. I'm going to pick up the Takara scopedog and put my (fragile museum piece) Yamato back in his box. Besides, my son is at that age when he thinks everything is a ball and hurls everything across the room lolz!! (Thank goodness we have carpets)

Here are some old pics, but somehow, I forgot to post these before. Its hard to find great futurustic ships for at the 12 inch scale!Henshin Cyborg is flying the MX-25 Attack Jet from the Max Steel toyline.I just made sure that the decals had no reference to Max Steel. Also placed a Takara Victory project sticker towards the front of the main fuselage! I was also hoping that the tecter suits could serve as a "flight suits", but it seems that the added bulk, particularly the boots make the dressed cyborg too big to fit into the jet. Too bad!

Hey Garvy. I just got my takara scopedog in today. All I can say is..It's awsome!!! ;D I like the size and weight of it. All the joints are tight. I'd say its a definite improvement over the Yamato one. (designwise) I might pick up another one just to customize!!
Cons/gripes: I wish it came with more pegs to hide the screw holes. And I forgot how much I hate doing water applied decals.Do you have any idea when and what accessories if any are coming out?

Well, I'm glad my inputs were of some help and that you weren't disappointed! ;D As for me, I passed on applying the decals. I also considered getting one more to "toy around" with, but I figured any customization might be premature since Takara may decide to release other Votoms mecha. As to when they will release more mecha and accessories for the current scopedog, I can't say. I've not seen any updates with the exception of the Fyana figure that comes with what looks to be like a cryogenic chamber of sorts. If I get more news, I'll let you know! Cheers, Garvy
