sketcher. Dude, I was not complaining because this release is not Daimos or anything.... I just find it plain ugly. Just like the lighter, Spiderman and King Joe. Once again, it's not because it does not fall in a certain "Go Nagai" thing--I don't even know what that is.
It just comes down to the basics for some of us, THEY ARE NOT AESTHETICALLY PLEASING!!!

The main reason why I became a completist is because I truly liked every single SOC release from GX-01 to 29. I didn't start out that way. I picked and chose along my the way. I decided to get them all when I realized that I had most of the line.
I guess in many way, any line loses its steam and become less exciting. I mean there is only so much robots Bandai can do for its SOC line, right? I wish that they just slow down and be more selective vs. releasing a whole bunch at a time. I like the SOC line better when Bandai didn't release so many in a year. They just felt more precious to me when Bandai released one or two a year.
I am really excited about the possiblity of an SOC Daimos (what kind of a Pinoy would I be if I am not thrilled about this news). I may get Raiden (sp?), though I don't know anything about this guy. I may skip Ideon because I am really hating the color (but I will not turn down a gift).

Is it just me but I really don't like Battle Fever. It's super light (it feels very flimsy) and somewhat really cheesey looking. The firgure is more like a human-based action figure to me--less like a robot.
I should have not gotten this robot (thank god it was a gift). In many ways, this SOC should have been the first one I have skipped. I vowed not to be a completist after seeing Lightan and that Spiderman thing (I thought SOC went downhill from there).
I am extremely happy with Voltes V and Gunbuster (I am now officially a selection-based SOC collector--my bank account thanks me). And I just got Walker Gallia for my birthday (I am a big fan of Xabungle and so I anticipate loving this robot).
I know that I will upset a lot of people for expressing my views. I hope that you guys don't get mad at me and just let me vent... These are very expensive toys and I feel that we are entitled to air out our feelings (it's a very costly hobby/addiction and I am quite guarded by their value--monitarily and aesthetically). With that in mind, what's up with GX-37 King Joe, it's hideous!

Awesome review! I can't wait to get mine! When will BBTS deliver theirs? Any news?

Cool, thanks. I am getting my SOC Walker Galliar for my birthday in February (I hope that BBTS will ship it by then).

The leg of my little Zambot Ace broke while I was assembling the big Zambot. Be very careful with the little guy. I am still on a look out for an affordable Zambot Ace (they are now more expensive than the whole package).

Have you guys ordered from Toy-wave.com? My spouse is planning on getting GX-35 for my birthday and we're not so sure if they are reliable--we typically order from BBTS. Oh yeah, we're opting to buy the robot here because it is only $69.99. But I guess the shipping can make it as much as BBTS's ($89.99).
Thanks.

Hey guys... When you assemble/put together your robots (example: Voltes V), do you keep it on robot mode almost permanently? I do for several reasons:
1. The complicated robots are a challenge to put together (example: I spent an hour assembling Gunbuster)-I may never put it back together again
2. I don't want to risk destroying or losing any parts of the robot
3. I hate reading directions (sometimes I just do things instinctually and they magically work)
Are you guys the same or do you transform them to their many configurations all the time?

I'd like to keep all of my boxes. This is one of the reasons why I don't go outside of the Soul of Chogkin line. In short, I don't have room to store all of the boxes--they take up more space than the actual robots. I like this, it keeps me disciplined.

Honestly, when I first saw the SOC boxes, I thought that they were poorly designed, graphically. Poor type choice, cheesey faux stone background, and lacking in visual hierarchy (especially the back, too busy). And what's up with all of the unecessary lightning bolts? I told myself, if they can spend all this time and money designing the robot, why can't they hire better graphic designers? Isn't Japan known for its stellar graphic design? Oh well, I am over that now... I became a fan of the boxes, despite its obvious design flaws.

I wonder what's the percentage of folks who buy SOC's keep the boxes vs. throwing them away?
I keep all of mine but they are not all in great shape. I especially did not take good care of my earlier ones (I didn't think that I would become such a big collector of SOC's at first). Oh yeah, I store mine vertically and so the bottom boxes carry all of the weight. Hence, my top boxes are the ones in better shape (these are the newer SOC's, from GX10 and up). Lastly, they are not shrink wraped or anything. I don't have a whole lot of space to store them.

Though I believe that the SOC line is perfect... There are days that I feel that I can live without the added accessories. I never display them (this is mostly due to the lack of shelf real estate) and I feel that they complicate the design of the robots. They are more like sensory overload for me. Don't get me wrong, I am glad that Bandai includes them--this is what makes them even more cool. However, they just rarely get the "spotlight" for me.
How do you guys feel?

I agree tnaclin. I have all of the SOC versions (GX 06, 18, 19 + 20). I like them but I am not crazy about them. Yes, they should focus on other robots.

Yes, I mean the limited edition; Snow White, Sirene de Noire, Cleopatra and the 4th one. And why not?

Do you guys think that Bandai will release the latest Maz Angels as a box set--like the Eva's and the Lightan's?
I already have the first two versions. The latest ones are so expensive. I am not dying to get them but I'll purchase these latest ones at a reasonable price.

My SOC-31 Voltes V right leg seem to be a bit shorter. I can't properly make my robot stand without a slight tilt. It's bugging me a lot. What should I do? Thanks.

Thanks for the reply 45caliber. Does GX-35 have more metal than Xabungle? What parts of its body?
